Collapsible Magnetic Rigid Box for European Cosmetic Holiday Collection

Industry Background

A mid to premium European cosmetics brand planned a limited edition holiday gift set across six countries. The project required 100,000 units of high end rigid packaging with a luxury unboxing experience.

Challenge

Traditional rigid gift boxes would have occupied approximately 8 full 40HQ containers, resulting in high ocean freight, customs handling, and warehouse costs. The client also wanted a magnetic closure that felt premium but did not compromise shipping efficiency.

XingKun Solution

We designed a collapsible magnetic rigid box with hidden N52 neodymium magnets and precision interlocking corners. The structure ships completely flat and can be assembled in seconds by retail staff or end customers. We used 1,800g high density greyboard to maintain rigidity while controlling overall shipping volume.

Result

The flat pack design reduced container usage from 8 to 2.5 units, saving the client an estimated $45,000 in combined ocean freight and warehousing costs. The packaging passed 1,000 opening/closing tests and maintained a premium magnetic closure experience.
